Five Things To Remember On Oct. 4

1. Pope Francis is visiting Assisi on the Feast Day of his namesake and there are many photos and videos coming. One story to come out so far is the Pope encouraging people to reject "the spirit of the world." He said, "A Christian cannot coexist with the spirit of the world," he said. Worldliness "leads us to vanity, arrogance, pride. And this is an idol, it is not of God."

2. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and our Facebook followers have sent in photos of their pets for our annual album.

3. Sunday is Respect Life Sunday and Cardinal Seán O’Malley, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, said, "By opening our hearts to his love and mercy, we let Christ dwell in us and we see more deeply the intricate and unique beauty of each person. Though we are capable of sins against human life such as abortion, assisted suicide and euthanasia, we are not beyond Christ’s mercy.”

4. Although his trip to Assisi is grabbing headlines today, his mind is also on reform of the Church as you can see in the video below.

5. God loves you.
